WAI advance its brake caliper range
The demands placed on brake calipers have never been greater, according to WAI. The company says modern vehicles require components that “not only deliver consistent stopping performance” but also “integrate seamlessly with advanced safety systems”. They also need to withstand increasingly harsh operating conditions. WAI reports its brake caliper range has been developed with these challenges in mind.
WAI supplies 100 percent new brake calipers, engineered to match OE specifications in both performance and dimensional accuracy. With over 1,000 SKUs covering more than 90 percent of the vehicle parc, the range provides “strong coverage” for late-model applications, helping workshops reduce sourcing delays and vehicle downtime.
Calipers made using aluminium or cast-iron cases
Each caliper is manufactured using either aluminium or cast-iron cores, depending on the OE design, and finished with zinc or powder coating to provide long-term corrosion resistance. Critical internal components, including steel or phenolic pistons, square-cut seals, and precision-machined seal grooves, are designed to ensure smooth piston movement, effective retraction, and consistent braking feel.
Testing crucial
WAI reports its calipers have been subjected to extreme pressure leak detection, high-cycle durability testing, piston retraction, and residual drag checks, and corrosion resistance salt spray tests, as part of a strict and thorough testing and validation process.
The company says this testing ensures reliable operation under real-world conditions, from high-load braking to prolonged exposure to road salt and moisture.
Attention to detail
WAI adds that polished guide pins, OE-matched milled threads, and anti-seize grease are used to support correct installation and long-term serviceability. Furthermore, all mating surfaces are milled to create a sealed, robust assembly capable of performing under extreme temperatures and pressures.
