SMP Europe to make Automechanika debut

SMP Europe has announced it will be exhibiting its engine management and ignition product portfolio, as well as its engineering and manufacturing expertise for the first time at Automechanika Birmingham 2023.

Visitors to Automechanika Birmingham, held at the NEC from 6 – 8 June, will reportedly be able to get hands on with various SMP Europe product lines, including its new manufactured EGR Valves, Air Mass Meters and new NOx Sensor ranges. More information will be available regarding its Intermotor, Lemark and Lucas brands, and visitors can learn more from the engineering team about how the company’s products are designed and manufactured at its HQ in Nottingham.

Martin Turner, marketing director at SMP Europe, said: “We’re pleased to be joining the roster at Automechanika Birmingham for the first time and demonstrating our engineering and manufacturing processes and expertise, across prototyping, testing and distribution, to the wider UK automotive aftermarket industry.”

The company claims to have had a busy start to 2023 with tours of its factory and new garage facility for customers and press, within its Nottingham-based UK Centre of Engineering.

SMP Europe says its garage facility has the capability of stripping electric vehicles (EV) for research and development of new applications, along with offering technical training on EVs.

This investment in its technical and engineering resource is said to enable the brand to continue its work as a trusted authority on engine management, ignition, and emission products.

SMP Europe’s engineering team has allegedly grown in recent years, and additional investment has also seen the implementation of 3D printing machines to assist in product prototyping, fitment testing and in house custom tooling.

“We are showcasing a number of our manufactured ranges at Automechanika Birmingham on stand D98 in Hall 20, which have been produced by our engineering team at the SMP Europe HQ, showing off our validation process along with our 3D printing and milling capabilities,” Turner adds.

SMP Europe’s product ranges include ignition leads and coils, air mass meters, knock sensors, temperature sensors, EGR valves, exhaust gas temperature sensors and fuel vapour values, fuel injectors and pumps, plus many more.
