IMI hosts webinar after DfT MOT Consultation outcome
Following the conclusion of the Department for Transport Consultation into the MOT, the IMI is hosting a free webinar, which intends to help the MOT and wider aftermarket community explore the findings and discuss the next steps.
The webinar, “Navigating the Future of MOT: Insights, Improvements, and Engagement” will take place on Thursday 29th February from 12:00-14:00 GMT. A Q&A session will follow the main discussion.
The two-hour session hosted by the IMI will feature DVSA MOT experts: Neil Barlow, Head of Policy and Simon Smith, Product Manager – MOT Testing Service. Hayley Pells, Policy and Public Affairs Lead at the IMI will also participate in the webinar, which is designed to help the sector understand the potential future enhancements to the MOT.
Inviting MOT professionals to contribute to shaping the future of MOT testing, the session will reportedly include:
- An overview of the Consultation and Vision for MOT
- Considerations for Changes to the MOT Test
- The Role of the IMI and Industry Perspectives
- Panel Discussion: Shaping the Future MOT Together
- An extended Q&A Session
The IMI welcomes the Government’s commitment to maintaining the first MOT at three years and annual testing thereafter. This approach aligns with IMI research findings on the importance of regular checks for road safety and vehicle maintenance. However, it’s claimed the professional body believes it is essential that the MOT undergoes continual review and adaptation to keep pace with evolving vehicle technologies and environmental considerations and it’s said the webinar will provide valuable sector insight for the future.
