Original Birth, the Italian all-makes supplier, has released a range of oil filter housing plastic cap covers that were, until recently, thought only to be available through the main dealers. However, GGB, sole UK Original Birth distributor, is supplying the range direct to the aftermarket.
The Italian all-makes supplier Original Birth, whose products are distributed in the UK by Bradford based GGB, are well known for supplying ‘niche’ items and many difficult to source parts. With the recent introduction of the supplier’s range of OE quality plastic caps, to fit many of the popular oil filter housings, it looks like the company has further enhanced its reputation.
GGB reports, that the range has been very well received by both motor factors and the aftermarket alike, with sales in the initial few months outperforming initial expectations.
With the oil filter being a service item, the housings can be taken off and refitted many times, and the caps can be stubborn to remove or get easily broken due to the nature of their plastic design. The majority of these caps often have a plastic nut on top, which can get easily ‘rounded off’ or damaged with the constant removal at service intervals. Therefore, it is prudent for factors to be able to offer their customers a number of replacements, should they need them, when refitting an oil filter housing.
The original product launch consisted of eight part numbers, covering many popular manufacturers such as Peugeot, Citroen, Renault, Vauxhall and Ford. This initial range has recently been added to, by a further five references. These include models from the VW stable – such as the Golf V, Audi A1, A3, A4, Skoda Octavia and increased coverage on the Ford range.
Whilst GGB appreciates one or two of the more popular caps have been available from other sources, the distributor believes this is the first time a complete range – which now consists of 13 references – has been available from one supplier, and offers the motor factors an increased opportunity to supply their garages with a product previously only available from the main dealers.
