DENSO highlights its OE EMS aftermarket products

As demonstrated by the fact that the company pioneered the first electric compressor for hybrid cars and continues to invest in research and development around electric and hybrid vehicles, DENSO is future-focused, according to Pan EU Strategic Marketing Manager, Fatiha Laauich:

DENSO is also a significant player in the development of engine management systems (EMS), which it supplies to the independent sector through its aftermarket division. DENSO provides reliable, OE solutions to ensure a complete and quality repair.

With the extreme demands placed on engine management systems (EMS) and the individual components that are involved in them, an advanced design and the highest quality are among the qualities that a reputable replacement part should offer as standard. In addition, precision is also vitally important to ensure it is an exact fit for the vehicle and avoid the risk of subsequent, difficult to trace, electronic malfunctions.

Although it is possible for two OE parts to look identical, EMS components are usually developed for a specific engine architecture, so each might have different functional behaviour. Examples of these invisible, yet crucial, differences include a different pinout on the connector, different internal components and distinctive firmware loaded into the electronics.

Generic EMS products, which are aimed at a wide range of applications, may not match the OE specification. Sometimes this is noticeable because of poor fitment, but even when it’s not, other problems can develop over time, such as higher fuel consumption, increased exhaust emissions or poor engine performance. These can lead to further complications, like causing the engine to stall or only allowing it to operate in ‘limp-home’ mode.

However, as an OE EMS manufacturer, DENSO pays a great deal of attention to optimising its parts for specific applications to ensure better overall performance, efficiency and long term reliability.

DENSO’s expanding EMS aftermarket products include:

  • Cam and crankshaft position sensors
  • EGT sensors
  • EGR valves
  • Ignition coils
  • Fuel pumps
  • MAP sensors
  • MAF sensors
  • Lambda sensors

Did you know?

  • DENSO developed the world’s first EGR valve with an integrated air intake throttle valve. This EGR combination valve is half the size of conventional models, reducing weight, which is key in today’s downsized engines
  • DENSO launched the world’s first plug-in type MAF meter inserted into the intake pipe wall, reducing the size and weight, as well as aiding installation
  • DENSO was the first to introduce quantitative measurement to lambda sensors, enabling them to sense both if the air/fuel mixture is too lean, or too rich, and by how much
  • DENSO EMS products are fitted as OE by many VMs. The aftermarket range meets the same quality standard as its OE products
  • In addition to EMS components, the full DENSO aftermarket programme includes AC, ignition, diesel, rotating electrics and wiper blades, further details of which can be found online
