Corteco discusses oil seals

Corteco can draw on many decades of manufacturing. As oil seals become increasingly more complex, the company says its original equipment (OE) pedigree allows it to deliver a comprehensive range of oil seals in original quality for camshafts, crankshafts, high-pressure pumps, auxiliary shafts, axles and transmissions.

As the aftermarket distribution arm of the Freudenberg Group, Corteco has the credentials to deliver both static and dynamic sealing solutions.

Its range is derived from more than 7,000 gaskets and over 6,500 different Simmerring® shaft seals and valve stem seals, which are available in OE quality, the company said. After more than 80 years, Simmerring® is a universally recognised brand name, with a range of applications that is expanding.

Efficient engine control by sealing technology

By combining the original Simmerring® radial shaft seal with an elastomer encoder to measure speed and rotation angle, Freudenberg has developed a sealing solution: with the help of an integrated sensor, the seal is able to measure speed precisely and, therefore, contributes to more efficiency in motor control. This new principle has proven itself many times in the OE sector, Corteco said.

The Corteco logo may be red, but the message is extensively green. Its sealing technologies are designed to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, controlling traffic pollution more effectively.

Corteco hopes its ‘green’ message will be the “catalyst” for motor factors to supply and technicians to fit “more sustainable and more eco-friendly aftermarket parts”.

What’s more, Freudenberg Sealing Technologies has demonstrated its commitment to a cleaner environment with investment in long-term research & development programmes, designed to achieve significant reductions in vehicle emissions.

Fit the part right, first time

Motor factors can also trust workshops to choose the correct Corteco part when placing an order, thanks to the company’s Find Your Seal tool (www.findyourseal.com), which offers technicians the chance to find the correct seal for the job they have on the go.

The tool allows the individual to enter the dimensions found on the old seal and match it directly to a part in Corteco’s range. This provides the user with the Corteco part number, clarifies the dimensions and also shows what the seal is made of, letting the technician know they’ve located the right component.
