Exide makes AGM auxiliary battery additions

Exide Technologies has launched EK013, which follows the recent unveiling of EK454 and EK457. The latter two are equipped with standard and thin taper terminals according to European Norm (EN) and Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) respectively.
Exclusively designed as a backup battery, the 12V 1.2Ah EK013 is engineered to support automatic drivetrain electronics and gearbox electric oil pumps. Next to the standard auxiliary battery – typically behind the glove box in most cases – it is used to support advanced stop-start systems.
This addition from Exide plays an essential role in allowing motorists to drive their vehicles normally – even in the event of a malfunction or failure within the main 12V battery pack.
The Range Rover Evoque, as well as many Mercedes Benz cars and vans – including the pure electric EQ series – are covered by this new auxiliary battery. Its adaptability as an auxiliary battery makes it suitable for virtually any vehicle type.
Together, the new EK013, EK454, and EK457 batteries provide professionals with access to an additional six million vehicles across the vehicle car parc. All three are available to purchase now.
In other news from Exide, it has updated labelling for its Light Vehicle (LV) battery range, incorporating a “contemporary design that significantly simplifies battery selection”.
The new unified labels feature a clear color-coded design based on the corresponding battery technology, making it “even easier” for motor factors and technicians alike to choose the correct battery.
Exide’s LV battery range includes Exide AGM, EFB, Premium, Excell, and Classic. To ensure consistency with the latest fitments in hybrid and electric vehicles, Exide Start-Stop Auxiliary batteries have been integrated into the Exide AGM range.
To ensure a smooth transition, the newly labeled products will retain their existing article codes.
Going forward, Exide will implement the new label design with technologybased identification across the rest of its automotive battery ranges, including CV, marine and leisure, and motorbike and sport batteries.
