Get the lowdown on OSRAM’s sustainable packaging

OSRAM has revealed its push on sustainable packaging and has begun to replace the packaging for its entire retrofit bulb portfolio in the automotive lighting sector with eco-friendly alternatives.

OSRAM attaches “great importance” to sustainability and is, therefore, continuously working on being environmentally friendly. The company’s goal is to have carbon neutrality of its own operations by 2030 and is applying the strategy principle ‘avoid, reduce, compensate’ to its reduction path.

OSRAM believes it is already contributing; the latest examples are the durable ULTRA LIFE halogen bulbs with longer lifetime and the development of on-road and off-road retrofit LED bulbs that require 60% less energy than conventional halogen bulbs and have a longer service life.

The company is now taking the next important step towards even greater sustainability by changing to 100% plastic-free and fully recyclable packaging made from recycled materials for all its automotive bulbs.

OSRAM has revealed its new packs are as “durable and robust” as their predecessors. Although the products are no longer visible in the box, they are shown full size on the packaging, which means they are easily identifiable to customers. The new packaging will be “phased in”, in a running change according to stock availability.
