Dan Bewley has reportedly led the Niterra UK Ltd-backed Great Britain team to the final of the Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup after the Lions’ victory at semi-final 1 in Wroclaw.
Cumbrian racer Bewley is said to have topped the GB score chart on 14 points as the 2021 FIM Speedway of Nations world champions triumphed on 43, finishing ahead of second-placed Sweden to join hosts Poland in Saturday‘s final.
The GB team apparently delivered its best ever performance in this competition outside of the UK for a generation with Bewley supported by Robert Lambert, who scored 13 points, with triple world champion Tai Woffinden adding 10 points from four rides, before making way for No.5 Tom Brennan in his final outing, with the Lions reserve claiming two points.
Bewley said: “Whatever four teams are in the final, it’s going to be pretty tough. I am just looking forward to it. We will see what we can do. It’s always nice racing in Wroclaw. I am stoked to have raced in my first World Cup. I think it’s the best meeting there is. I am just stoked to be here.”
Niterra UK Ltd claims to be a supporter of Speedway via its NGK ignition brand, and partners the Great Britain Speedway team.
Becca Knight, Niterra UK Ltd Marketing Manager, added: “The team was exceptional in its semi-final and I’m sure it will be determined to take that form into this weekend’s final when it will have a great chance of becoming World champion.”
