Castrol offers EV support

Castrol believes its latest new “high-performance” offerings, namely Castrol ON EV Transmission Fluids W2 and W5, present a compelling opportunity for you to support the fleet of EVs equipped with wet e-motors.
Castrol reports that its new fully synthetic, low-viscosity formulations of ON Transmission EV Fluid W2 and W5 have been developed to deliver low electrical conductivity and enhanced system protection, helping the e-motor run at cooler temperatures and at optimal efficiency. Both products have been “designed and tested to handle the high torque outputs that EV motors can generate – even from low speeds”.
Castrol is confident this presents an important offering, citing workshops that need products that can meet the unique requirements of hybrid and electric vehicles. Castrol’s ON EV Transmission Fluid range is tailored to meet VM specifications.
W2, for example, has been developed for MG Motor and is compatible with models, such as the MG HS Plug-in Hybrid and MG ZS EV. Similarly, the W5 Fluid supports BYD’s Seal saloon and Seal U DM-I Plug-in Hybrid SUV. It is also suitable for BYD models with dry e-motors, including the Atto 3 and Dolphin.
Castrol’s developments continue
The launch of the two new wet EV transmission fluids follows the introduction of Castrol ON EV Transmission Fluids D1 and D2 in 2022, the company’s first dedicated products for EVs in the aftermarket. These fully synthetic fluids are suitable for many EVs that operate powertrains with dry e-motors, offering gear and bearing protection.
Stocking these fluids provides an opportunity for you to meet the needs of workshops servicing an increasingly wide range of HEVs and EVs. Castrol suggests that as EV adoption increases, bolstered by the government’s Zero Emission Vehicle mandate, workshops will need reliable, high-performance fluids to service this expanding vehicle parc.
Castrol continues to work closely with VMs to develop EV fluid technologies, with three out of four of the world’s “major VMs” now using Castrol ON EV Fluids for factory fill, according to a 2023 GlobalData report for the top 20 selling OEMs.
Final word
Castrol argues the future of mobility is electric, and you play a vital role in equipping workshops to meet this transformation. By offering Castrol’s growing range of products designed for hybrids and EVs, the company believes you can help workshops future-proof their offering and better differentiate themselves in an increasingly competitive market.
