OSRAM provides training to Nottingham students

Renowned lighting manufacturer, OSRAM, recently delivered their OSRAM Lighting Academy training session on automotive lighting to nearly 70 motor vehicle engineering students at Nottingham College.

Students are a significant part of the future of the automotive aftermarket, therefore OSRAM is dedicated to assisting in their education. It’s for this reason that, in conjunction with Mike Smallbone from Aftermarket Business Solutions, OSRAM recently conducted two training sessions for students at Nottingham College.

This is the company’s first training session of the year, but OSRAM attended multiple colleges in 2025 to provide free training to students, including sessions at Warrington College, Leicester College and Swindon College.

Throughout the day, students learned about the aftermarket in general, as well as bulb technologies, business opportunities when it comes to upselling and fitting bulbs and the importance of fitting premium quality products.

Marketing Director, Henry Bisson, said: “Throughout the college days we partake in, we find the students to be enthusiastic about their future careers and responsive to what we were teaching them.

“There were a few students who were unable to attend the event due to work commitments, so to ensure they receive the same as their classmates, we recorded the session so it could be sent on to them.

“During all of our training days, we want to stress the importance of fitting premium quality and reputable components, as fitting a poor quality bulb may dazzle other drivers, fail prematurely and in some cases, be hazardous in the engine bay and cause damage to the headlight unit, so we want them to learn this information at the start of their career, and hopefully carry it through.”

At the end of the session the ‘heads or tails’ quiz provided some additional involvement  from the students with a chance to win some OSRAM branded goodies.
