Motul introduces its 8100 Power series

Innovation has always been the lifeblood of Motul, according to UK and Ireland Sales and Marketing Manager, Andy Wait. Here, he lays the foundation and opens a bottle of Motul 8100 Power.

Given we are the company that introduced the three breakthrough lubricant types to the global automotive industry in the second half of the 20th century – multigrade, semisynthetic and fully synthetic motor oils – we have never been afraid to lead the entire industry into new product areas.

Our recently launched NGEN product range, which takes performance with sustainability to a new level, is a further example of this desire to continually raise the bar in the lubricant sector.

We also monitor existing trends and are conscious, not only of being able to produce ranges that break completely new ground, but also to find gaps that current and future trends are likely to create, in existing sectors of the market.

Enter 8100 Power

The Motul 8100 range was originally devised to cover a wide spectrum of cars, with full OEM approval but with a minimum number of references – and the general 8100 range encompasses most modern engines, whether normally aspirated or turbo/supercharged, petrol or diesel fuelled.

Motul 8100 has long been compared to a Swiss Army Knife because of its all-round capability, but this knife now has a sharp cutting edge, given we’ve just released the 8100 Power series of lubricants onto the market.

Since 2022, Motul 8100 X-power has had the distinction of not only being an oil with huge racing heritage, but it has also had the unique chance of creating a racing heritage of its own, having been chosen, for the second year running, as the mandated engine oil of the ROKiT F4 British Championship. Certified by FIA, this is where future F1 stars are made.

Motul 8100 Power

This road-to-track lubricant has been the launching point for the 8100 Power series. 8100 Power is aimed at top-end performance and tuned engines. It is equally at home on the racetrack as it is on the road. It offers a cost-effective solution to those who want a high-quality ester-based, fully synthetic lubricant, that is able to cope comfortably with all types of engine demands, offering exceptional engine response and LSPI Protection. It offers this practical ultra-high performance solution without having to move into the territory of Motul 300V, which is aimed fairly and squarely at the realms of track applications.

Think of Motul 8100 Power as the ultimate all-rounder!

It has all of the practicality of the 8100 range, but with added extra capability.

It is a cost-effective solution for those vehicles that might be highly tuned, for which people need an engine oil that will be as at-home heading for the shops as it is doing track days, or even competitive motoring.

We’ve looked at the increases in people tuning and modifying their cars. Take, for example, the German and Japanese car marques, and the growing number of enthusiasts who love the base cars but have seen how they can be modified, tuned and personalised to their individual taste.

In addition, we’ve considered the growing number of people who are participating in track days in cars that are their daily drives. They are all looking for an oil that will happily handle increased power, will cope with the rigors of daily motoring but will also be equally at home on the track.

We have our various Motul 8100 variants, which are all great all-purpose motor oils, and we have 300V, our flagship product which is the standard against which all competition oils judge themselves. 8100 Power offers a high-performance product with an API SP standard – meaning it can be used under OEM warranty when an API standard is requested – and it offers a real warranty for the end-user, thanks to this API stamp, which is not usually possible with Motul 300V, because of its competition credentials. We see it as a really cost-effective blend of both the wider 8100 range and 300V, in terms of its usability.

Motul 8100 Power is currently available in 0W20, 5W30, 5W40, 5W50 grades in both 1L and 5L packs. Also, a full dedicated technical back-up service is available.
