European Aerosols discusses MOTIP

Making its first foray into Professional Motor Factor, European Aerosols is confident it is ready for MOTIP to make its mark in the UK. Country Manager, Robin Vogelsang, explains why.
Q. Thank you for taking the time to speak to us today – given this is European Aerosols’ Professional Motor Factor debut, can you give our readers a potted history and reveal why the UK market is of interest to the company?
A. “European Aerosols is a leading manufacturer of aerosols for automotive, DIY and industrial applications. Founded in 1946 by my grandfather, Kurt Vogelsang, in Switzerland, the company initially focused on the distribution of paints and rust converters. In the 1950s, we pioneered retouching pencils and spray cans. The company expanded rapidly with my father, Jürg Vogelsang, at the helm. Our expertise includes spray paints, technical sprays and putties. We operate production sites in the Netherlands, Germany and Spain, supported by sales offices and warehouses located across Europe. Today, European Aerosols produces more than 150 million aerosols a year.
“The UK market is of strategic importance to us because of its strong automotive and DIY sectors, which match our strengths. We are active in the UK with our DIY brand, PlastiKote, and our automotive and industrial brand MOTIP, along with many private-label partnerships.”
Q. MOTIP is the brand you are particularly keen to push into the UK – can you provide readers with an overview of what MOTIP is?
A. “MOTIP is the leading house brand of European Aerosols, specialising in high-quality spray solutions for automotive, industrial and cycling. It offers a wide range of products, including spray paints, primers, varnishes and technical sprays for automotive repair, protection, care, and maintenance. MOTIP is our biggest brand, selling more than 20 million aerosols annually for users across Europe. With a strong focus on our onestop selling concept, we continue to expand the MOTIP product line to meet the changing needs of the market.”
Q. MOTIP is a recognised name in Europe – how do you plan to build brand recognition and, ultimately, distribution in the UK?
A. “With a reputation for high-quality spray paints and technical sprays, we want MOTIP to be the first choice for automotive repair, care and maintenance.
“To achieve this, we’ve focused on increasing MOTIP visibility through targeted marketing campaigns, partnerships and industry events. By working closely with existing and new key distributors and retailers, we aim to ensure MOTIP is available everywhere in the UK – from specialist retailers to large chains.
“With volumes of more than 20 million aerosols a year, we are using MOTIP’s European success to gain trust and loyalty in the UK market and become a leading name.”
Q. Which MOTIP products should our motor factors pay particularly close attention to?
A. “We offer a wide range of MOTIP automotive products for every aspect of car repair and maintenance. Our paints are available in a wide range of matching colours for accurate touch-ups
“To protect vehicles, we offer protective sprays, like bitumen spray, which shields the underside from wear and corrosion. We have a wide range of technical sprays too, such as brake cleaner, multi spray and silicone spray, which ensure optimal maintenance. Our MOTIP solutions meet high industry standards.”
Q. What is your assessment of the automotive aftermarket in the UK and how does it impact your decisions regarding MOTIP?
A. “The automotive aftermarket is set to grow steadily, driven by rising car sales, greater maintenance needs and the expansion of the EV market. With a strong car culture, high car ownership and growing demand for modification and repair products, the UK offers significant opportunities for our brand MOTIP.
“In line with these trends, we plan to strengthen MOTIP’s presence in the UK by focusing on brand recognition and expanding our distribution network. The sector’s continued demand for repairs, maintenance and customisation aligns well with our high-quality offerings. We want to leverage MOTIP’s existing presence to increase growth and meet the growing needs of UK consumers. Furthermore, we are looking for distribution partners who want to grow MOTIP together with us.”
Q. European Aerosols’ Head Office is in the Netherlands, and while you have a presence in the UK, how can you assure readers that you’ll be able to offer proper customer service and aftersales support?
