Schaffler’s new training facility

REPXPERT and Technical Services Manager, Alistair Mason, presented a range of technical updates to a packed audience at the IMI workshop facility at Schaeffler’s UK headquarters in Hereford.

The training event, held in partnership with Ludford Parts Ltd, attracted over 40 workshop owners and technicians on a scorching hot day, where they enjoyed Schaeffler hospitality and useful training sessions on various Schaeffler-related products and systems.

Alistair said: “We had a brilliant turnout for our first-ever training event in the new workshop, so we tested the capacity and resources to the limit, but everybody enjoyed the evening and many commented that it is great to come to a top-notch facility and learn some new skills.”

The workshop is fully kitted with Dura cabinets, an interactive 84” screen, and a scissor lift that allows the Schaeffler team to work on the wide variety of vehicles it caters for – from passenger cars through to tractors.

Schaeffler says it will also be used for photo and video shoots, as well as more training and business partner events.

Q&A with Schaefflers Jeff Earl

Q. While these training events are obviously important for workshops, what do the motor factors working collaboratively with Schaeffler gain?

A. Our customers work with us to ensure we can impart as much crucial installation and maintenance information as we can to independent garage owners and professional technicians. Passing on the latest product and technical data means that they are more likely to do the job right first time, safely and efficiently, and using the right parts. This means less chance of fitting errors, premature failure, plus follow-on costs for both the garage and their customer.

Q. What did the training cover?

A. Alistair covered a wide range of topics in his presentation and hands-on demonstrations, from double clutch repairs to new products and solutions available for electrified applications, including the latest hybrids and fully electric vehicles.

Q. What difference is this new training facility going to make to Schaeffler’s customers?

A. The REPXPERT Academy will be used for many internal and external events – from video production, staff presentations and learning to customer and local workshop training sessions. It will also be made available to selected Schaeffler aftermarket technical partners in need of a professional workshop environment for their own purposes, or for technical collaborations and training with the Schaeffler/REPXPERT team.
