Automechanika & IAAF launch new collaborative event

Automechanika Birmingham and IAAF serve up new collaborative industry event at Padel Social Club.

Automechanika Birmingham, in partnership with the IAAF, has announced an exciting new collaborative format that brings together the long-established Women in Automotive programme and the IAAF Gender Balance community for a fresh, engaging industry event.

Places are filling up fast for the event taking place on Thursday 19 March, from 2pm to 6pm, at Padel Social Club – Earl’s Court. The invite only event will bring together professionals from across the UK automotive industry for a friendly, inclusive padel event and high-quality networking experience.

The event combines the long-standing Automechanika Birmingham Women in Automotive initiative with the IAAF’s newly formed Gender Balance Community, creating a fresh, engaging environment designed to encourage meaningful conversation, connection and collaboration across the sector.

Alex Jones, Marketing Director, Messe Frankfurt UK said: “This event reflects what Automechanika Birmingham is all about, bringing people together in fresh, engaging ways while supporting a more inclusive and representative automotive aftermarket.”

With places strictly limited to 60 attendees, and a maximum of two people per business, demand has been high, with spaces filling quickly.

A different way to connect

Attendees will take part in a mixed-gender padel event, accessible to all abilities. The session will be professionally coached, and beginners are welcome, offering a balance of social and competitive play over 90 minutes, followed by two hours of relaxed, structured speed networking, with drinks and nibbles provided.

To ensure a shared experience and meaningful interaction, all attendees are required to participate in both elements of the event.

Mark Field, Chief Executive of the IAAF, said: “This event is about bringing people together in a way that feels open, inclusive and genuinely enjoyable. IAAF has a responsibility to support all members and bring them together to encourage stronger networking and a more collaborative aftermarket.”

Supporting a more inclusive aftermarket

The IAAF’s Gender Balance Community was established to help the automotive aftermarket broaden its appeal, strengthen its talent pipeline and create environments where everyone feels able to contribute and progress.
