Niterra focuses on future after 50th anniversary

Niterra UK Ltd and its NGK Ignition Parts and NTK Vehicle Electronics brands are celebrating 50 years of supporting the sector. Established in 1975, the company has grown from a small Hendon warehouse into a partner for distributors, motor factors and workshops nationwide.


The company first gained traction in the motorcycle market before expanding into four-wheel applications. Early OE contracts with Lotus and Aston Martin helped establish the NGK brand, and Niterra continued building its reputation by supplying manufacturers, like Jaguar, Rolls-Royce and Bentley.

Motorsport has been a key proving ground for Niterra’s products. From Formula One and the World Rally Championship to Superbikes and Speedway, NGK’s spark plugs have played a pivotal role in powering teams to victories.

Over the years, Niterra has expanded beyond its original spark plug range. Today, the company offers glow plugs, ignition coils and a wide range of NTK sensors. Recently, the introduction of EGR valves marked another important milestone, strengthening NTK’s engine management portfolio.

CUSTOMER FOCUS

Inspired by its Japanese heritage, Niterra’s strong customer relationships have been central to the company’s success, according to UK Managing Director, Marko Wowczyna.

He said: “The original principles and values from Japan are still here today. A focus on customer service, support and product quality has always been at the heart of what we do. Even as we’ve evolved and grown significantly, those foundational values remain unchanged. Our team’s dedication and passion resonate with our customers and help set us apart in the market.”

LOOKING FORWARD

While celebrating five decades of achievement, Marko insists Niterra remains focused on the future; for example, the company is investing in new technologies and product lines, exploring alternative fuels and considering opportunities beyond automotive markets.

He added: “The industry is changing, and we’re evolving with it. But our commitment to quality, innovation and customer support remains as strong as ever.”
