Delphi Technologies details its diagnostic tools

Motor factors can take advantage of continuously evolving vehicle technology by ensuring they’re supporting their workshop customers, offering the appropriate tools and equipment. Delphi Technologies offers an insight into which of its diagnostic tools is helping distributors achieve that.

With today’s vehicles becoming increasingly complex, and even the most modest of cars now equipped with an array of sophisticated electronic systems, workshops must ensure their problem-solving skills and tools are up to the job if they are to secure their longterm future.

For motor factors, that creates the need to understand their customer’s requirements and respond with the right equipment for the job, and nowhere is that more critical than in selecting the right diagnostic tool.

However, the benefits to motor factors go beyond the initial sale. By recommending a tool that expands the range of services a workshop can offer, it creates the opportunity to drive sales growth both through increased parts sales and through licence renewals.

Delphi Technologies said it understood how important that relationship is when it launched its new BlueTech VCI diagnostic tool. Its intuitive design belies the complexity beneath, with a simple LED icon panel and colour-coded surround lighting that ensures its status is visible to the technician from almost any angle.

Its processor is five times more powerful than its predecessor, delivering faster vehicle scan times than ever before, while new integrations, such as CAN FD, multiple CAN channels and Diagnostics over Internet Protocol, offer workshops cost-effective and access to the latest troubleshooting methods.

That includes features, such as DTC-assist, connecting technicians with guided diagnostic assistance, while Pass-Thru capability opens the door to services, like ECU programming and ADAS calibration, which were previously the preserve of franchised dealers and their OE-specific tools, the company said.

By supporting the widest range of vehicle brands and types, from cars and vans to trucks and buses, the BlueTech VCI expands the scope of work workshops can offer, maximising their revenue and growth potential. This, in turn, creates the opportunity to increase parts sales, and as workshops evolve and expand their service offering to welcome new vehicles through their doors, this, ultimately, benefits motor factors.

But it’s not just part sales that motor factors stand to benefit from, with the sale of every BlueTech VCI a chance to develop both new and regular income. The accompanying software is offered with a one, two or three-year licence, and its renewal is an opportunity for motor factors to generate an ongoing revenue stream that ensures regular contact with their customers and strengthens the relationship:

“Access to regular updates is vitally important as our vehicles become ever more complex,” said Delphi Technologies Aftermarket – Northern Europe Marketing Manager, Julian Goulding: “Our diagnostic tools are constantly updated, increasing not only the number of supported vehicles, but also the scope of functionality on offer.

“While the task of ensuring a garage’s knowledge and toolset are kept up-to-date may seem a daunting one, in truth, it presents a welcome opportunity to drive revenue growth – both for the garage as they expand their services and cater to the needs of a wider customer base, but also for the motor factor through the sale of new tools, software, and parts.”
